The first three pictures on this page are of my grandparents, Harry & Ruby Freeman. Harry worked at Sanger Brothers and Sanger-Harris for more than 40 years.The other pictures are scanned from some slides found in Harry's photo collection. They probably date from about 1959, and they show a Sanger-Harris store being newly built or remodeled. Does anybody know what store this was? Downtown? Preston Center?
Update: My mom informs me that Big Town Shopping Center was built in 1959. Surely that fits perfectly? Anybody who was working at the Big Town store in those days care to verify this guess?
Update 6/2005: Sherry says that the shoe department looks like the one at the Irving Sanger-Harris near where she grew up in Plymouth Park. Any more guesses?
Update 11/2005: Jacob votes for Irving too. He used to visit the Irving store in the early 80's. (I've never been there myself.... I live on the way east side of town.)
